To reward Mr Hoby's hard work (for studying really hard for his exams), I decided to make him his favourite Bak Chor Mee. Mr Hoby's compares all his Bak Chor Mee experiences to Stall 58 Bak Chor Mee at Taman Jurong Food Centre. And he never fail to say No. 58 is the best. He chooses Mee Pok for his Bak Chor Mee, whereas I prefer Mee Gia.
Home-made Bak Chor Mee is never as nice but its healthy! I try to be as authentic as possible and have the usual minced pork, pork liver and pork balls.
In the sauce, I have black vinegar, chilli paste, oil, soya sauce and fish sauce. My mum reminded me that I should use garlic or shallot oil instead. Good point hor!
I sauteed the mushroom in fried ginger, oyster sauce and sugar.
And this is our home version of Bak Chor Mee. Mr Hoby's likes the pork liver because its done just nice (soft yet chewy)!
