Celebrate weekend

Mr Hoby and my weekend started early this week. Thursday night out at Fasta Pasta with the Ngs to kick start our packed yet fabulous exciting fun.

The food at Fasta isn't really what we have expected. It wasn't as authentic fresh made pasta as it sounds on the website description. I guess it was because there are alot of branches around and hence, hard to keep up with the quality control.
Above: The chicken pizza (as our appetizer) wasn't the kind we like. The crust was very thick and the fillings were too much to really taste the pizza as a whole.

Above: Fettucini Verdi Casanova - Spinach pasta with roasted veal. This veal strips pasta was unique and if you like veal, it would be quite a good choice.

Above: Ravioli Milanese - traditional meat filled pasta. I can't really taste the meat though.

Above: Linguine Turismo- It tasted like laksa- due to the laksa leaves and chilli flakes.

We were super dissatisfied with dinner and moved on to our favourite 16th on the Park for dessert. Had a really nice sticky date pudding with caramel sauce. This is the 2nd dessert I tried on the menu. 30 plus more to go! Hee...

We were really looking forward to Saturday night because we invited our best Brissy friends over to celebrate Mr Hoby's 30th (super belated though). We decided to challenge ourselves by cooking a seafood fine dinning meal for them.

I love the set up. I was praying that GOD would give us cheap and good deals for food and decorations for this special occasion and praise Him for He always provides and takes care of us.

Ikea has a shop for free deal in Brissy. Eat at the restaurant and redeem your purchase(according to how much you eat at the Ikea restaurant) for free at the check out. We didn't know about this offer until we arrived at Ikea! GOD is so wonderful. Hence, our purchase that day cost us nothing and we had a really good salmon and meatballs lunch!

Below: Our table set-up sponsored by Ikea.

Below: Mr Hoby prepared Brushetta for appetizer. It has tomato, basil, garlic, lots of olive oil, pinch of salt and black pepper.

The Brushetta really opened up our taste buds and I love how he placed them on the plate.

The Ngs brought their own branded wine glasses and vintage 2004 Voyage Shiraz. They made the effort to open it up to let it rest before bringing to our place. Hence, the taste was mellow and so easy to drink.

Below: Healthy caesar salad with just cos lettuce and hard boiled eggs.

Below: Very fresh new zealand mussels cooked in white wine, chilli and lots of garlic.

Below: For mains, we had orange glazed salmon and garlic prawn. Simple marinate but the seafood tasted so good because of their freshness!

Below: We ended our meal with a refreshing fruit salad topped with passion fruit.

We chatted the whole night long over dessert wine Inniskillin. I would still rate the icewine as my top favourite.
